Tral, Oct 7: There was no let-up in bear attacks in Kashmir as a man was mauled by a bear in the Monghama Dankaad area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday, officials said.
The injured, identified as Bilal Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Monghama Dankaad, was attacked in the Dankaad area.
Bilal was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tral for treatment and later referred to Srinagar for further medical care. His condition was stated to be stable.
The attack was the second bear attack reported in Tral subdivision on Wednesday, triggering alarm among residents.
The incidents come amid increased bear movement around orchards during the ongoing apple harvesting season.
At least two people have been killed and more than 55 injured in bear attacks across the Valley since the start of the harvest season.
The increased movement of bears near orchards has heightened concern among residents, with harvesting activity underway across large parts of Kashmir.
