Srinagar, Sep 21: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, on Monday chaired a comprehensive Crime and Security Review Meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the security situation, operational preparedness and progress in crime investigation and disposal.
The meeting was attended by Zonal Superintendents of Police, SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, SDPOs, SHOs and other senior officers of Srinagar District Police.
During the meeting, the overall crime situation in Srinagar was reviewed, with discussions focusing on improving the quality of investigations and prosecution, particularly in general crime, POCSO cases and crimes against women.
The SSP also reviewed cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and other offences. He directed officers to expedite the disposal of pending cases and ensure effective implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
While reviewing action against drug trafficking, the SSP directed officers to identify and dismantle NDPS hotspots and trace forward and backward linkages in narcotics and terror-funding cases. He also stressed the need for financial investigations, including freezing of bank accounts and attachment of properties allegedly derived from illegal proceeds, as per law.
The security grid and operational preparedness of the district police were also reviewed. The SSP directed field formations to strengthen counter-insurgency measures, intensify area domination and increase naka checking at vulnerable locations and inter-district borders.
Dr Chakravarthy stressed the need for round-the-clock vigilance and effective coordination among field units to respond to emerging security challenges and maintain peace and public order in Srinagar.
